COURSE CALENDAR | WEEK 14 CLASS OUTLINE | Homework
Review:
- Final Projects in progress
Lab:
- Intro to Flash Workspace
- Flash Basics
- Using flash to create a simple animation
- Preparing your comic book illustrations for animations
- We will be creating the illustrations (background and character) in Illustrator and importing them into the Flash library (turning them into symbols).
- When creating a character with articulated parts (hands, arms, head, etc.) that will animate independently from the whole character, be sure to move each to separate named layers. This will make it easier to turn each into a symbol in Flash.
- Put the background (and rest of still panels) on a separate layer too. If parts of the panel background will interact with the animation (ie: the character will travel behind a tree) make sure they are on separate layers.
- Export your illustrator file as SWF (Export > SWF). Choose AI Layers to SWF Files while exporting. This will save out individual swf files for each layer.
- Creating an Animation
- Create a new document in Flash and save it to a folder called Final_Animation.
- Import your exported SWF files into the Flash Library.
- Create a new layer named background.
- Create additional layers for each moving part of your animation.
- Open the Library panel.
- Select each imported symbol and give it an name. Then double click on each symbol in the library and reposition the objects in the center, if necessary.
- Select the background layer and drag the background symbol onto the stage.
- Select each animation layer and drag the corresponding symbol onto the stage.
- Follow the instructions in the above tutorials to animate your panel. Use key frame animation and/or tweening animation.
