ASSESSMENTS | Understanding Your Grade
Your final grade is determined by the following, based on a 200 Total Point Scale
Projects are worth 85% of total grade = 170 points
- (1) Midterm Project = 85 points
- (1) Final Project = 85 points
Class Participation is worth 15% of total grade = 30 points
- Class preparedness (bringing book and materials to class, completing assignments on time)
- Volunteering answers and helping other students
- Paying attention during class demonstrations
- Participating in critiques and discussions.
- If during class you are observed taking a phone call, checking email, IM-ing, texting, working on other projects, or the like, the full 30 points will be deducted from your grade.
Homework
- Between 1 and 5 points are taken away from your final grade for each homework assignment missed or inadequately or partially completed.
- Homework is due at the start of class.
- Example: Your final grade is a B+ , but you haven't completed any homework assignments, you final grade could drop to a C.
Class attendance
- Two lates equal one absence. A student is considered late if they arrive after attendance has been taken. If you arrive after attendance has been taken and are marked absent, it is your responsibility to notify the teacher.
- After two absences your final grade will drop one full grade for every absence. If you miss more than two classes there is a possibility that you will receive a failing grade for the semester. This policy is in accordance with the school attendance policy. Check your student handbook (page 14) for details.
