Preparing your files

Image and Text Compositions

When you have completed your (8) compositions, save each as a PDF from Photoshop. File > Save As > Photoshop PDF (from the Format dropdown).

Front Cover, Back Cover, Vision Statement

You may choose to layout your front cover and back cover in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or by hand and scan. Save as a PDF.

If you want to assemble your Front Cover and Back Cover in Flipsnack, have your creative vision statement (artist statement, designer statement, mission statement, manifesto) available to copy and paste, along with any images you’d like to include.

Creating a Flipbook in Flipsnack

  1. Create a Flipsnack account. You many choose to use your real name or a pseudonym (screen name). This name will be visible when you publish your collection.
  2. Select Upload PDFs to bring your saved PDFs into your Flipbook. Follow this guide for details.
  3. Edit your Flipbook. Once your files have been uploaded click the Editor button at the bottom of the window. DO NOT press Next or Publish yet.
    • Add, reorder, and edit pages in your flipbook.
      • You should have (8) compositions, a front cover and a back cover, including your vision statement.
    • Add a Front Cover with the title “Ways of Seeing” and your name/pseudonym. (You may choose to add an image to the cover, but make sure there is good contrast between the text and image. Your title and name should be legible!)
    • Add a Back page with your creative vision statement and date. (You may choose to incorporate your vision statement within the compositions or on specific page in your collection instead.)
  4. Save as Draft. When you are done working, click Save As Draft to save your work and come back to it.
  5. Publish. When you have added (8) composition pages, a cover page and back cover page with your personal vision statement. Go ahead and click Publish. You can always go back and edit as needed.
  6. Share. Once published, click Share and copy the URL to your Ways of Seeing project online. Add this URL as a link in a post on the class site with a copy of your vision statement.
